FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[001] The present application addresses a method of operating a domestic hob, a control unit for controlling the operation of a domestic hob and a corresponding domestic appliance. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[002] Domestic cooking plates are well known and implemented as inductive heating plates, resistance heating plates and gas heating plates. In particular with regard to children, the elderly and the disabled, in certain cases it would be desirable to have better safety functions, in particular aimed at preventing serious injuries and burns.
[003] The document FR 2869398 A1 describes a cooking hob with a function in which a possible user has to authorize himself to operate the hob, that is, to unlock the hob, by entering biometric identification data. The plate can be unlocked if the biometric identification data entered is known to the plate. A similar system is described in WO 2005/106335.
[004] EP 0 727 616 A1 describes a hob with a child safety lock. The plate can be removed from the child safety lock mode by simultaneously opening and closing the flaps briefly or via a separate button.
[005] The document DE 200 03 307 U1 describes an appliance with a remote control by which an authorized user can turn off the device or receive a warning in case of detection of unauthorized use of the device.
[006] The documents EP 2 037 178 A1, DE 102 56 464 A1 and DE 20 2008 000 665 U1 are intended for the supply of cooking plates or appliances with proximity sensors to detect people in front of the appliances. Information about whether a person is present or not, or additional information, such as the calculated size of a detected person, can be used to control the device. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[007] An object of the invention is to provide a method of operating a domestic hob, a control unit and a domestic appliance with improved safety functions, in particular aimed at preventing injuries to children, the elderly and the disabled .
[008] This particular object is obtained by claims 1, 12 and 13. The preferred embodiments in particular result from the respective dependent claims.
[009] According to claim 1, a method of operating a domestic hob or cooking appliance is provided. A particular domestic hob should comprise hobs with a single or several heating points or heating zones, respectively adapted for heating kitchen utensils and the like. In general, the operation of a hob comprises controlling the power supply to the hob. The energy supplied to the hob or cooking points can be gas or electrical energy.
[010] The hob to be operated with the proposed method comprises a user control interface. The user control interface is adapted to input user control information to control the operation of the hob. In particular, the user control unit may comprise a surface or touchscreen adapted to adjust or define operating parameters of the hob. Sensitive to touch should mean that the action of touching, that is, contacting, is sufficient to generate some type of input signal. The user control interface can be adapted to enter operational parameters, to activate or deactivate the hob and the like.
[011] According to the proposed method, the hob is operable in an operational mode with safety lock. In this operating mode with safety interlock, the hob triggers a safety action in the event of certain alert conditions. In other words, if the hob, e.g. ex. a sensor or controller unit of the same, detects an alert condition, that is, a critical safety condition, a safety action is triggered, executed or activated. The alert condition can be a critical safety condition in which the operational hob can cause injury to uninvolved people, such as children and the like.
[012] According to the proposed method, an alert condition is at least one of the following conditions: - a person tries to operate the control interface without unlocking the hob and - a person is closer to the hob than a predefined distance without unlocking the hob.
[013] In other words, if the hob is in the state with a safety interlock, the operation of the control interface or the mere presence of a person at a predefined distance from the hob leads to the safety action, unless that the hob is unlocked, that is, it is transferred from the operating mode with safety lock to the normal operating mode, in which the hob is freely operable. The unlock options will be described below.
[014] With the proposed method, at least two types of dangerous or risky situations can be avoided.
[015] One type of such situation is when uninvolved people, such as children, gain involuntary access to the control interface of the operational cooking appliance and attempt at random and arbitrary to operate the user control interface. In particular in these situations, any amendments to the power levels and other operating parameters should be avoided. Consequently, it is advantageous that the security action at least blocks the user control interface to prevent any changes in the operational parameters. If the hob is in the off state, blocking the hob activation is advantageous, whereas if the hob is in an activated operating state, it may be advantageous to block any change or increase in the power level. for cooking, for example. In some cases, it may even be desirable to close the hob in the event of an alert condition.
[016] Another type of such situation is when uninvolved people, such as children, elderly people and / or people with disabilities, are close, or closer than a predetermined distance, to the activated cooking hob. In particular under these conditions, it may in some cases be advantageous to close or even stop the hob operation immediately. Stopping or closing the hob at least reduces the transfer of power to the cooking point or kitchen utensil. In the case of gas cooking hobs, turning off the gas burner will generally remove open flames and interrupt the gas supply, which are considered two serious security threats.
[017] As can be seen, the proposed method is effective in providing satisfactory safety features and functions for cooking hobs, in particular for gas cooking hobs.
[018] In a method modality, unlocking, that is, an unlocking action, requires the introduction of a predefined entry in or for the control interface. It should be noted that if a blocking feature is provided, the action of transferring the hob to safety-locked operating mode may similarly require the introduction of a predefined input to or to the control interface. The predefined entry can be comparatively specific so that the normal actions or operations of people not involved in the user control interface do not generally lead to the unblocking of the hob. The predefined input may for example require the touch or even the pressing of a certain button or a zone of the user control interface, in particular for certain periods of time and the like. In any case, specific predefined entries can be used to prevent unintentional unblocking by arbitrary actions by uninvolved people.
[019] In another mode, the predefined input, in particular specific, comprises the operation of a predefined control section, in particular the numeric keypad, of the control surface. As already mentioned, the predefined control section can be one that is generally not operated accordingly by people not involved. As an option, the predefined input can comprise the operation or the input of a control sequence, in particular a specific control sequence on the control interface. In this case, the release is comparable to the entry of a PIN or ID on the control interface, where the entry will transfer the hob from the locked mode to the unlocked mode. Note that the respective possibilities can also be implemented for transferring the hob from the unlocked mode to the locked mode.
[020] In a variant of the method as demonstrated before, the predefined control section is selected from at least one security lock key or keypad, a security lock switch or security lock control element, or a on / off key, a keyboard, a switch or a control element. In particular, this means that unlocking, or even locking, can be achieved by touching or even pressing on a special numeric keypad and the like, specifically provided and adapted for unlocking or locking the hob, in particular the control interface user. If the corresponding numeric keypad, and the like, is not operated or activated, the security action will be performed.
[021] It should be noted that the provision of the respective unlocking options and predefined control sections and the like allows an authorized person involved, such as a person who turned on the hob, to avoid the execution of the safety function by unlocking the respective function. cooking plate or user control interface. Unlocking the hob or user control interface can return them to normal operation where the user can set, adapt and / or change operating modes or parameters via the user control interface.
[022] In a variant of the method, it can be provided that unlocking, and in particular locking as well, requires the operation of the security lock key, keypad, switch, button, control element and the like, for example. a minimum period of time. In general, the persons involved, ie authorized, as qualified users, are aware of this time period and will promptly activate the security lock key within the predefined time period to prevent the security action from being performed and thus return to the unlocked state .
[023] It should be noted that when unlocking the hob and / or the user control interface, in particular in the timely execution of the unlocking action, the execution of the security action will generally not be carried out.
[024] In another variant of the method, the lock and in particular the unlock require the operation of the security lock key within a predefined time interval. In other words, if the unlock key is not operated within the predefined time interval, the security action will not be triggered. In general, the people involved, such as qualified users, will be aware of the predefined time interval and will, in due course, operate the unlock key to prevent the security action from being carried out.
[025] The use of a predefined time interval in which the unlocking action has to be carried out to avoid the safety action, in particular is advantageous if the proximity of the hob is monitored for the presence of people and is used as an indication of alert conditions. In more detail, if the presence of a person is detected, p. ex. an uninvolved or unauthorized person such as a child, in the vicinity of the hob, and the person is unable or unable to unlock the hob or the user control interface, the security action will be taken. If the person is aware of the time interval, he / she will certainly be able to execute the unlocking action in a timely manner and put the hob and / or the user control interface back to the unlocked operating mode, ie normal.
[026] In this case, it should be mentioned that the starting point of the time interval can be a time point in which a respective alert condition is detected, in particular in which the unauthorized presence of a person in the vicinity of the cooking is detected, determined or recognized.
[027] In the modalities, it is provided that the unblocking of the hob is carried out or obtained by recognizing an authorized user via identifications or biometric information. This recognition can be performed automatically. Biometric user recognition can be achieved at least by fingerprint recognition, eye recognition or facial recognition, or other user-specific biometric parameters. The respective biometric sensors can be supplied with the appliance or the hob, in particular coupled with the respective control devices configured to carry out the locking and unlocking actions and / or the display of the locking and unlocking requirements in particular related to data biometrics.
[028] In an embodiment of the present method, it is provided that the operational mode with safety lock is automatically established after a pre-defined idle time of the user control interface. This can be advantageous in situations where the activated hob is left alone for a certain period of time. In this mode, the state with security lock can be activated if none of the user's actions are detected or registered for a certain period of time. A respective downtime can be selectable by the user, in particular via the user control interface.
[029] In one modality, it is provided that the safety action comprises, at least, the closing of the cooking hob, the emission of a visual warning or the emission of an acoustic warning. Visual and audible warnings can alert the uninvolved person to give up acting or approach the hob. In addition or alternatively, visual and audible warnings may alert you to the non-conventional use of the hob. The closing or turning off of the hob is a measure with the objective of preventing injuries or severe damage to the person not involved and / or the environment.
[030] In yet another embodiment, the hob comprises a proximity sensor which, at least in the operational mode with safety lock, monitors at least partially the proximity of the cooking appliance. The proximity sensor in particular is adapted to detect warning conditions in which an uninvolved person is closer to the hob than a predefined or allowed distance. The signal from the distance sensor in particular can be used to generate an alert signal. In other words, an alert signal can be generated based on, or using, sensor signals from the distance sensor. In the case of a person, in particular an uninvolved person, or other objects, or even animals or pets, being closer than a predefined distance. It should be emphasized that the observation of the environment by the proximity sensor cannot be restricted to people, but can also involve objects, animals, in particular pets and the like. If it is determined that an object, in particular a person, is closer than a predefined distance, it is further verified whether an unlocking action is carried out, preferably within a certain time interval. If no unlocking action can be observed or determined, the security action will be taken.
[031] As can be seen, the proposed method is effective in providing safe operation of the hob.
[032] According to claim 12, a control unit adapted to control the operation of a domestic hob is provided. The control unit comprises a controller, in particular an electronic controller, such as a microcontroller, which is configured to perform a method as described above, in particular including any related modalities. As for the advantages and advantageous effects, reference is made to the above description.
[033] According to claim 13, a domestic appliance is provided, in particular a cooking oven based on induction heating, resistance heating and / or gas heating. The household appliance comprises a hob and a user control interface adapted for entering user control commands or information for controlling the operation of the hob. The user control interface can be implemented as shown in the description above, which applies with the necessary changes.
[034] The household appliance further comprises a controller that is configured to perform a method as described above, in particular including any related modalities. As for the advantages and advantageous effects, reference is made to the description above and above.
[035] In one embodiment, the household appliance comprises a proximity sensor unit with at least one proximity sensor. The proximity sensor can be installed in a cover, in particular a front cover and / or a cover around the hob. In addition, the proximity sensor can be adapted to monitor, in particular from any direction, a predefined or defined proximity, in particular, however, a frontal and / or higher proximity of at least one hob. In the modality, it is provided that the controller is adapted to use sensor signals from the proximity sensor for the operation of the hob. In particular, the operation of the hob depending on the sensor signals may comprise the triggering of a safety action if an object, in particular a person, is observed at a distance from the hob that is closer than a predefined distance, since that any unlocking action is carried out properly.
[036] In yet another modality, the home appliance also comprises at least one graphic screen adapted to present a visual warning in the event of the occurrence of an alert condition, and / or a sound generator adapted to generate an acoustic warning in the case of occurrence of an alert condition. The graphic screen can be implemented with the user control interface, in particular in the form of a touch screen. The graphic screen and the sound generator, in particular a loudspeaker, can be connected to the controller and adapted to be controlled by the controller.
[037] For more advantages and advantageous effects of the household appliance, in particular a gas cooking appliance, such as a gas stove top, reference is made to the above description in relation to the proposed method and control unit. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[038] The modalities of the invention will now be described in relation to the attached figures, in which: FIG. 1 shows a schematic representation of a domestic cooking appliance; FIG. 2 shows a block diagram of a first operational sequence; and FIG. 3 shows a block diagram of a second operational sequence. DESCRIPTION OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE INVENTION
[039] The invention will now be described in relation to the selected modalities of a domestic cooking appliance, which in particular can be a gas cooking appliance, in which the selected modalities are not to be interpreted as limiting the scope of the invention. Instead, the invention can be applied and used in relation to similar cooking appliances already mentioned above.
[040] FIG. 1 shows a schematic representation of a domestic cooking appliance 1. The cooking appliance comprises a stove frame 2 with several, in the present case four, nozzles 3.
[041] The appliance 1 further comprises a user control interface 4 which is adapted and provided to allow a user to enter and / or define operational parameters of the stove top, in particular of single cooking points or nozzles 3. The interface User control 4 in particular can be a touch-sensitive user interface, in particular a touch-sensitive graphical user interface.
[042] The device 1 further comprises 1 a controller (not shown) adapted to operate the nozzles 3 according to user definitions introduced and / or defined via the user control interface 4.
[043] The user control interface in particular comprises a security lock key and / or an on / off key 5. The key or keys can be implemented as predefined areas on the touchscreen.
[044] The appliance also comprises several proximity sensors 6. The proximity sensors 6 in the present case are implemented on a front face of the hob, preferably below or integrated in a front cover of the appliance 1. Note that the sensors of proximity 6 can vary in number and disposition, in particular as much as possible to detect objects, in particular people close to the nozzles 3. In particular, proximity sensors are adapted to feel or detect a person or a nearby object and / or the presence of a person or object at a distance less than a predefined distance from the device 1, in particular a predefined distance from the front face of the device 1.
[045] The function of the respective elements will be described and will become evident in relation to FIG. 2 and FIG. 3, respectively showing block diagrams of a first to a third operational sequences of the apparatus 1.
[046] FIG. 2 shows a block diagram of a first operational sequence. In a first step, a user begins to define operational parameters of the device via the user control interface 4, and after that the user begins the operation of one or more respective nozzles 3.
[047] After the nozzle 3 starts to operate, the nozzle or cooking appliance can automatically switch to the operational mode with safety lock. In particular, switching to safety-locked operating mode can be carried out automatically after a certain period of time. Alternatively, the operating mode with safety lock can be activated by the user. User activation can, for example, comprise pressing or touching a respective key 5 or keyboard for a predefined period of time.
[048] After the transfer of device 1 to the operational mode with safety lock, the controller continuously monitors the user control interface, in particular if some actions, in particular touch actions, are carried out in the user control interface.
[049] As long as the controller does not detect any new actions on the user interface, the controller continues to monitor the user control interface. If an action on the user interface is detected, the controller will check if the action of the user interface is pressing the power off button on the device. If the shutdown key is pressed, actuated or touched, the controller will shut down, in particular, shut down the device. In that case, it should be mentioned that it is advantageous to keep the function of the power-off key even in the locked mode. The performance of the disconnect key can also be verified or monitored at or at other stages or moments of the method.
[050] If the off key is not pressed, the controller monitors whether an unlock action is performed or not and / or whether an unlock condition is obtained. The unlocking action in the present particular case can comprise the touch of the key 5 for a predefined period of time, which can for example be a period of approximately 0.5 s to 1.0 s or even more. However, other unlocking events, in particular conditions, such as unlocking a registered or authorized user via biometric data, in particular fingerprint recognition, eye recognition, facial recognition and the like, can be used.
[051] Information from fingerprints, eyepieces and / or facials, in general biometric information, about authorized users can be stored in a device memory, in particular a controller, to be available for comparison.
[052] If the controller detects an unlocking action within a certain period of time, such as 1 s, the locking state remains, and the device, in particular the nozzle 3, returns to the unlocked mode, ie normal operating mode. Properly carrying out the unlocking action in general will be and can be carried out by the authorized user involved so that he can use the cooking appliance as usual.
[053] However, people who are not involved, ie unauthorized, such as small children, elderly people or people with disabilities, cannot or do not know how to unlock the appliance 1. Consequently, the action of unlocking, that is, the pressure on the button 5, in general it will not be carried out in or for a certain period of time, and therefore the cooking appliance 1 will not return to the unlocked state. Instead, controller 1 can perform or trigger a safety action to prevent injury and burns.
[054] The safety action can, for example, be an acoustic warning, a graphic warning or it can, in particular, cause the closure of at least the nozzle 3, if required of the entire cooking appliance. In particular, these safety actions can be effective in preventing undesirable situations for uninvolved people, such as children, and in particular, they can be effective in preventing injuries and other damage.
[055] FIG. 3 shows a block diagram of a second operational sequence. It should be noted that the operational sequences according to FIG. 2 and FIG. 3 can be combined to obtain an even more effective safety function.
[056] With the second operational sequence, the nozzle apparatus 1, in particular the nozzle 3, is connected and blocked in a similar or identical manner to that of FIG. 2. As opposed to the first operational sequence, the controller now monitors, with the help of proximity sensors 6, in particular using sensor signals from proximity sensors 6, the vicinity or vicinity of the device 1.
[057] As long as no object or person is detected by the proximity sensors 6, the operation of the device 1, in particular the respective nozzles (3), continues and the monitoring action is carried out continuously.
[058] If the presence or proximity of an object or person is detected, and it is determined that the object or person is at a certain or predefined distance from the device 1 or nozzle 3, the controller checks whether the off key has been pressed or acted upon. If the switch-off key is actuated, the device will switch off or shut down. Note that the performance of the hang-up key can be checked or monitored at or at other steps or moments in the method. Additional reference is made to the above description related to the activation of the hang-up key.
[059] If the power-off key is not pressed, the controller checks whether an unlock action is performed within a certain time, in particular predefined. The time period can, for example, be approximately 1 s.
[060] If an unlock action is detected, the controller will transfer the device to the unlocked state, that is, the normal operational state. However, if any unlocking action is detected within the time period, the controller will execute or trigger the safety action. The safety action can be identical to that described in relation to the first operational sequence. Accordingly, reference is made to the above description.
[061] As can be seen, in the first and second operational sequences, it is possible to issue or trigger a security action if an uninvolved person, without knowledge and / or without suspicion, tries to act or operate in the user control interface or remains closer to the operating device 1 or nozzle 3. By means of the safety action, dangerous situations, injuries and damage can be greatly prevented. However, for the involved and knowledgeable authorized user or operator, it is comparatively easy to transfer the device from operational mode with safety lock to normal mode operation, simply by performing a predefined unlocking action. It should be noted that it can be provided that the user can select the type and extent of the unlocking action. In other cases, the release action can be fixed by the manufacturer.
